Treating teens with diabetes poses many challenges for diabetes clinicians. The complex nature of the disease and the rigorous treatment schedule places substantial burden on patients and their families. Adding in the developmental demands of adolescence makes treatment much more complex.
Teens with Diabetes: A Clinician's Guide was written by three child psychologists with considerable personal, clinical, and academic experience with children and teenagers with diabetes. The authors use this collective experience to provide examples of conflicts and challenges that face these adolescents and their families. Each chapter highlights a different aspect of treating teens with diabetes and gives helpful case examples of how to approach similar situations in your own practice.
